KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) One man was in custody Tuesday after a Killeen resident reported in January that four people emerged from behind a bush as he walked through a field and robbed him at gunpoint.
Malcolm Bunton, 21, was arrested Monday.
He’s charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
The victim told police he was walking through a field in Killeen on Jan. 21 when four people emerged from hiding, held a gun to his chest and stole his cellphone, backpack, phone charger and a speaker.
The victim recognized two of the people from school and was able to give a description of a third man, an arrest warrant affidavit said.
When police caught up with the man the victim knew, he said “Macc” robbed the victim and gave investigators the man’s real name, the affidavit said.
When police interview Bunton he admitted that he was in the field, but he said it was the other man who held the gun, according to the affidavit.
Bunton remained in the Bell County Jail Tuesday in lieu of bonds totaling $115,000, according to online records.
