ROBINSON, Texas (KWTX) Thirty-seven softball players were swinging for the fences at the Special Olympics in Robinson Saturday morning.

The Heart of Texas Chargers, Creekside Crusaders and the Mexia Mustangs played slow pitch softball and competed in an individual skills competition at the Robinson Little League Park.

The Heart of Texas chapter is in its sixth year of hosting competitions.

The athletes practice on sport for eight weeks before competing.

Next month Bocce practice begins.

Organizers said more volunteers and support are needed.
