Volunteers from Atmos pitched in Monday to help feed Franklin residents affected by the powerful EF3 tornado Saturday that devastated the southern portion of the town.

The volunteers were cooking up and serving food near the Best Western Franklin Town Center Hotel and Suites at U.S. Highway 79 and Center Street.

The volunteers say they’ll be there until the food runs out.

The EF3 tornado with 140-mile-per-hour winds that plowed through Robertson County Saturday damaged or destroyed 55 homes, a church under construction, four businesses, a food pantry, a duplex and part of the local housing authority building on the south side of Franklin.

More than a dozen people were injured, but none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.

No deaths were reported.
