Area deputies seize 17,500 plants in raid on big pot-growing operation
Navarro County sheriff’s deputies seized about 17,500 marijuana plants in a raid on a large rural pot-growing operation off SW 0030 near Angus that was spotted with the help of a drone.
Investigators used the drone to survey the area to locate the operation after receiving reports of suspicious activity in the area, Sheriff Elmer Tanner said in a news release.
At around 7 a.m. Tuesday, deputies secured three separate fields of marijuana in various stage of growth, he said.
“This is believed to be the largest number of marijuana plants ever seized at one location in Navarro County,” he said.
