Bartlett: Fire destroys house

A vacant house near downtown Bartlett was destroyed Monday by fire that raced through the wood frame structure but no one was injured.

Firefighters were called at about 8 a.m. Monday to the intersection of Southwest Front Street and Elm Street after a caller reported a house in flames.

When Bartlett fir4efightyers arrived they immediately called for mutual aid from the Holland fire department.

The single story, wood frame structure was destroyed by the blaze.

Firefighters said it had been vacant for some time and there was no power turned on at the time of the blaze.

Firefighters were able to save nearby building from any fire damage.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
