Belton: Officials pleased with progress on new high school
The topping out ceremony at the construction site of the Belton ISD’s new high school is Friday, but in a prelude to the event Thursday, workers signed one of the beams that will support the 397,000-square-foot building.
Inside, Lake Belton High School is taking shape, too.
The school will include a gym, an auditorium, and space for fine arts, athletics, career technology classes, and traditional classes as well.
Superintendent Susan Kincannon and Principal Jill Ross toured the building Thursday, and say they are happy with the progress that's been made.
"It's just fantastic to be able to stand here and see years of work come together into something that's going to benefit our students for years to come,” Kincannon said.
The building should be finished in August 2020 and will open then to ninth and tenth graders.
Juniors and seniors will arrive in 2021 and 2022.
