BELTON, Texas (KWTX) On Monday, Belton Independent School District wrapped up its last public meeting on zoning changes for the next school year.

In December, the district announced it would have three public meetings on the proposed changes.

With the opening soon of an elementary, middle and high school the attendance committee board voted on two maps but wanted to public’s feedback before taking them to the school board for a vote.

“The change is to move southwest elementary students to South Belton Middle School when they enter the 6th grade and to move Miller Heights Elementary to the Belton Middle School campus” Belton ISD superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon said.

The new elementary will open fall 2019 followed by a middle school and high school in 2020.

The board will vote on the two proposed maps on January 14th at the regular school board meeting.
