Belton: Brewery raises money for Desert Storm War Memorial
It was a hot day all around central Texas, but people in downtown Belton got to cool off with a cold beer, for a good cause.
Bold Republic Brewing Company and the Belton Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a street party downtown to raise money to help build the National Desert Storm War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Bold Republic even brewed a new beer for the event called Capt. Jack in honor of the brewery owner, Adriane Hodges, father, Captain Johnathan Edwards, who is said to be the first officer killed during the Gulf War to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Several Texas breweries will make and sell the beer with the proceeds going to the memorial fund.
The fund currently sits at $8.4 million of a $40 million goal.
