He may look interesting riding down the highway with all of his equipment, but Daniel Hurd is on a mission.
"It's a 175 lbs of gear but it's everything I need," says Hurd who's been travelling alone since March of 2018 with a goal of going to every state in the continental United States.
In his almost 2-year journey Hurd has gone through 37 states, making it to Waco this past weekend.
"Most people when I tell them what I am doing they think of Forest Gump," but unlike the character from the popular movie, Hurd is traveling with a purpose.
Every mile he rides to bring awareness to suicide prevention.
"My last suicide attempt I didn't think I had any purpose left in this world and unfortunately there is a lot of people who think that," says Hurd who began riding after his third attempt at suicide.
Since then he has started his non-profit "One Pedal at a Time," which is dedicated to helping suicide prevention.
"Everyday is a blessing," says Hurd.
"I never expected to be able to help other people, when I started this it was for myself... so it's a blessing everyday," he says.
