Mary Ellen Wible of Waco wanted to celebrate her 94th birthday by attending a Baylor basketball game, so her son, Mark Wible, got tickets for the Bears’ match-up against Xaiver and on Saturday night she and her grandson, Noah were courtside.

“We got to sit right smack behind the team, it was so exciting,” she said.

But things got better.

Actor-comedian Bill Murray was in the stands.

Murray, whose son Luke is a Xavier assistant, was working in Austin and on Friday night he drove to Waco in order to attend the game Saturday.

During the game, which Baylor won 76-61, a camera shot of Murray was displayed on the Ferrell Center’s video screen, and after the final whistle, Noah got the courage to walk up to the actor to ask for a photo.

He introduced his grandmother and told the actor that it was his her 94th birthday.

That’s when Murray decided they needed to sing “Happy Birthday.”

“Here I was being serenaded by the Bill Murray,” she said.

The birthday celebration was caught on video, which shortly went viral and has since been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

"How many 94-year-old women internet sensations do you know?" son Mark said.

Mary Ellen Wible’s husband passed away this time last year, and said if she had not attended the game, she would have been at home by herself.

“I live under God’s will, and I think it’s so sweet of him to let be have such a fun time. This was an exciting way to spend my birthday,” she said.
