The Belton community gathered Saturday evening to remember 4-year-old Kaitlyn Oliver who was killed by a boat propeller last Friday at Temple Lake Park.

Dozens of boaters paid their respects around 7 p.m. at the organized memorial procession on Lake Belton.

Marine 61 of Morgan's Point Rescue led the procession which started at the dam and ended at Temple Lake Park.

Water cannons were set off after a moment of silence.

"It's a tragedy that is going to stick with the family and hopefully they can find comfort with what the community is offering and how they can help,” visitor Minh Nguyen said.

Her father, Patrick Oliver, lost both of his legs from the propeller as he tried to save her.
