Body of missing Texas hog hunter found in river
A body recovered just before noon Thursday from the Neches River in Cherokee County was that of Danny Wayne Carter, who had been missing since Jan. 12, Sheriff James Campbell confirmed.
The body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy, he said.
He added that the death appears to be a drowning.
The river was the focus of the search for Carter.
A cap believed to be his was discovered earlier near a river bend.
A Department of Public Safety helicopter joined the search at one point and game wardens searched the river using sonar, Campbell said.
