A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday after stealing a four-wheeler and then crashing it while trying to evade Central Texas deputies.
According to the Hill County Sheriff’s Office call log, deputies were first dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Bogey Drive just before 3 p.m. Sunday.
When they arrived, the child’s father said his son took his brother-in-law’s four-wheeler without permission.
An hour later, the boy was spotted in the vehicle and according to the report was “flying.”
Minutes later, the boy crashed the stolen Polaris 800 near the intersection of CR 1236 and FM 1713.
First responders reported the boy was trapped and complained of hip pain.
He was freed and then was flown to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.
A second person was injured, as well, but additional information was not available Monday.
