HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) A bus crash Wednesday afternoon south of Hillsboro on Interstate 35 was backing up northbound traffic.

The accident was reported at around 3:20 p.m. just south of FM 310.

By 4:30 p.m. northbound traffic was backed up for about four miles.

The highway was wet from a heavy rain at the time of the accident.

Authorities had few details about the crash, but the Texas Department of Transportation said the bus was blocking the northbound lanes and that passengers were being transferred to a second bus.

Northbound traffic was being detoured onto the access road.

Southbound traffic was backed up as well as drivers slowed to view the accident scene, TxDOT said.

The accident scene was cleared by around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
