TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) A petition demanding the release of dashboard and body camera footage in the Michael Dean case continues to collect signatures from across the country.

The Change.org petition was started by Terris Goodwin. As of Sunday night, the petition had over 1,500 signatures.

Dean was shot and killed by Temple police officer Carmen DeCruz on Dec. 2. Since then, protests and rallies have been held to demand answers.

“Now’s the time to start to repair the damage and make it right. The citizens of Temple, Texas, are watching and waiting for you to do the right thing,” the petition reads.

On Monday, DeCruz was charged with manslaughter.

“Police departments across the country have released video evidence in officer-involved shootings in the spirit of providing transparency and accountability to the communities they serve. Temple PD and our city officials should do the same,” the petition says.

During a press conference to discuss DeCruz's arrest, Interim Police Chief Jim Tobin said the department had no plans to release any video related to the shooting.
