A man wanted in connection with a shooting that stemmed from an argument was jailed Monday evening in lieu of $200,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Chase Alexander Cope, 23, of Belton, was arrested Saturday after Bell County deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on FM 1237.
Deputies found the abandoned vehicle in a field near Franklin Road and Rock Road in Troy and traced the two people who were earlier reported to be in it to a nearby trailer.
Cope was one of the two, authorities said Monday.
He was wanted in connection with a shooting reported just before 5:30 p.m. on April 25 in the 800 block of Witter Lane.
They found the victim with a through-and-through gunshot wound to the back.
He was taken to Scott & White Medical Center, from which he has since been released.
