Corsicana: Jury decides sentence in child sexual assault case
A Navarro County man convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child is headed to prison.
Jurors returned the guilty verdict after 10 minutes of deliberation Thursday and then sentenced Robert Escobar Hernandez to 35 years in prison.
He was accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
“She testified at trial, bravely detailing the sexual abuse,” Navarro County District Attorney William J. Dixon said in a press release.
Members of Bikers Against Child Abuse, or B.A.CA., were present during the trial to support the girl, he said.
“The jury sent a powerful message,” Dixon said.
“We will not tolerate sexual abuse of children in Navarro County.”
Hernandez, 38, has been jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $200,000 and without bond on an immigration detainer since September 2018.
