Central Texas man dies in collision with 18-wheeler

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) Daryl Brooks, 44, of Mexia, who was critically injured when his vehicle slammed into the rear of an 18-wheeler Thursday afternoon in Grimes County, has died at a Bryan hospital.

Brooks was flown to the hospital after the crash at around 4 p.m. near FM 24 at State Highway 90 north of Anderson.

Brooks’ vehicle hit the rear of the 18-wheeler as the rig’s driver was making a left turn into a private driveway, KBTX in Bryan reported.

The accident is under investigation, the Department of Public Safety said.
