In a deal with the Milam County District Attorney's Office, David Wayne Carter, 46, of Rockdale, pleaded guilty Friday morning to two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of promotion of child pornography in exchange for an eight-year prison sentence.

Two of the charges came with maximum punishments of 20 years in prison.

As part of the deal, Carter waived his right to appeal, will have to pay more than $600 in court costs, and is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Child Exploitation Unit of the Texas Attorney General's Office Law Enforcement Division.
