Area native uses underwater construction skills on humanitarian, military missions
A Bellmead native says life growing up in Central Texas prepared him for service in the Navy Seabees, traveling around the world to complete construction projects for military and humanitarian missions.
Petty Officer 2nd Class Aaron Brown is stationed in Port Hueneme, California, but says working in the Texas heat prepared him for labor outdoors in some of the hottest countries in the planet.
For nearly 80 years the Seabees have provided a valuable service in American military conflicts.
Brown specializes in underwater construction, working in sometimes harsh conditions doing things like welding and maintenance on underwater facilities.
