HILLSBORO, Texas (KWTX) A Celebration of Life service has been scheduled for Hill County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jeffrey Winningham, 47, who “lived life to the fullest” even during a tough fight against the cancer.

Winningham died on Thanksgiving Day.

The service begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home at 1826 Business 287 in Waxahachie.

“Jeffrey lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was quick to bring a smile to everyone’s face,” his obituary says.

Winningham was a Waxahachie High School graduate who served as a police officer in Waxahachie and as an Ellis County sheriff’s deputy before joining the Hill County Sheriff’s Office about two years ago as sergeant of criminal investigations.

"Jeff fought a valiant fight against the cancer that ultimately took him from his family and friends much too soon," Hill County sheriff’s officials said on the agency's Facebook page.

"Please keep his family, both blood and blue, in your thoughts and prayers."

Coworkers say they'll miss his infections smile and great sense of humor.
