HEWITT, Texas (KWTX) Kristen Elizabeth Copeland, 27, who was arrested Thursday night after a foot chase in Hewitt, was jailed Friday, facing charges stemming from a string of home and vehicle burglaries.

Copeland is facing four counts of burglary of a habitation and four counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, according to online jail records.

She was ordered held Friday in lieu of bonds totaling $28,000.

"Our officers started getting calls yesterday afternoon that there were some burglaries of motor vehicles going on near the Hewitt Park and Cheyenne neighborhood area," Hewitt police Chief Jim Devlin said Friday.

While investigating, officers found several stashes of stolen goods and then got a report about a suspicious person riding a bicycle around the neighborhood, Devlin said.

"Our guys then spotted a woman who then led them on a small foot pursuit and took her into custody," says Devlin.

Items taken in four separate burglaries were recovered during the arrest, he said.

Copeland was taken to the McLennan County Jail.

Police are in the process of returning the stolen items they recovered, but an investigation is also underway to determine whether she may be linked to other burglaries dating back to October, Devlin said.

"We are asking people in the area who may have been victimized to check their surveillance cameras and Ring doorbell cameras,” Deviln said.
