Chip and Jo back to TV? Couple hopes to 'design' own cable network
Waco's most famous couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines, are on the path back to television...in some form or fashion...with a possible new cable network in the works.
They made the announcement during an appearance on "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon" Friday night, but clarified it later on Magnolia's Instagram page.
"Chip Gaines got a little excited and spilled the beans on a potential project that we are working on," the post read. "This isn’t a done deal quite yet but we are all really excited about what we’ve got in mind: our own cable network!"
"We want to create a space on television unlike anything that exists today," the post read. "A lifestyle channel aimed at inspiring and looking at the world in a new way."
The potential network would be with Discovery.
Further details weren't immediately released, but the post teased followers, ending with "stay tuned."
Fans of the couple's former TV show on HGTV, "Fixer Upper," were going wild with excitement on Twitter Friday night.
The fifth and final season of the show filmed in Waco ended in April.
In a recent interview with KWTX, Chip said he didn't miss the show, but, in Chip fashion, might have had something bigger up his sleeve.
“...We've really gotten to focus on our business and Jo's written a couple of books, we've done some stuff, we had a baby, I mean, it's really fun how our hearts are drawn to the business, but not necessarily back to television in that vein.”
