The man whom a cleaning crew found dead inside a pickup truck at around 8 a.m. Tuesday at Long Branch Park at 1101 Branch Dr. in Killeen has been identified as Fort Hood Staff Sgt. Rodney Hagan, 32, of Victor, N.Y.

The crew members spotted the truck, whose engine was running, and whose windows were fogged up, and when they went to check on the pickup, they found the body.

Police said the initial investigation did not indicate foul play was involved in the death and later said suicide was the likely cause of death.

“Detectives have completed the investigation and have determined there is no danger to the public,” police said in a brief press release.

Hagan, who deployed to Iraq from November 2007 to February 2009, had been assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 393rd Engineer Regiment, 120th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division West since August 2018.

He joined the Army in July 2006.
