A city contractor struck a 3-inch natural gas line Wednesday afternoon while working in a North Waco neighborhood.

Firefighters responded just after 3 p.m. after the break was reported in the 1700 block of North 23rd Street.

The wind was dissipating the leaking gas and area residents weren’t in any danger, officials said.

An Atmos crew was repairing the broken line.
