Copperas Cove and FATHOM, the private company with which the city signed a 15-year contract in May 2016 to replace analog water meters with digital meters and to handle water billing, will part ways on Dec. 17.

City staffers are working with other vendors and will present proposed agreements on Thursday to the Copperas Cove City Council.

FATHOM, meanwhile will continue to provide customer service phone line and online payment options until Dec. 13.

After that date, customer account information including payment information won’t be current and customers won’t receive bills because of the transition to a new account and billing system.

“Customers are welcome to continue making payments in advance and in anticipation of receiving a reconciled bill following the transition,” the city said in a press release Tuesday.

Once the transition is complete, customers will received reconciled bills “for all services rendered,” the city said.
