“We went through every classroom in the building and just gave every teacher an inspirational quote,” said counselor Deleen Price.
The notes said things like “The best teachers teach from the heart, not the book” and “A good teacher is like a candle. It consumes itself to light the way for others.”
Counselor Maria Jackson was in on the fun.
She said the counselors not only wanted to provide a boost for the new school year, but also wanted to remind teachers they’re appreciated year round.
“Because the teachers right now, it’s a struggle because it’s a new year,” Jackson said.
“Summer’s over and we really want them to know that we care. And as counselors we are kind of like the heart of the school and we really want to show them that we care about them and let them be successful.”
Jackson added the gesture was appreciated by the teachers who all agreed they were surprised to find the messages when they arrived to work on Monday morning.
“We have a lot of love and respect for people we care about,” Jackson said.
“We love each other and it’s just a great place to work.”
