Troy: Crash on rural road leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

A crash late Monday afternoon on FM 935 just outside of the Troy city limits left one man dead and sent three other people to a local hospital.

The Department of Public Safety Tuesday identified the victim as George Weldon Collier, 63, of Troy.

Collier was a passenger in a 2007 Nissan pickup truck driven by Colby Eugene Collier, 25, of Troy, that was southbound just before 5 p.m. Monday on FM 935 when it crossed into the path of a northbound 2018 Chevrolet pickup driven by Samantha Jo Allen, 28, of Red Oak.

George Collier died at the scene.

Colby Collier, Allen and a 27-year-old man who was a passenger in the Chevrolet pickup, were taken to Scott & White Medical Center.

Information about their injuries and condition wasn’t immediately released.
