Falls County: Big rig crash shuts down portion of Highway 6

FALLS COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A crash on Highway 6 near FM 1373 in Falls County caused injuries and shut down the highway Friday evening.

According to DPS, a truck tractor with a flatbed trailer was parked on the shoulder of the highway when an approaching truck observed something in the roadway and attempted to swerve around it.

When the truck swerved, it struck the truck tractor that was on the shoulder.

DPS officials say the approaching truck became fully engulfed after crashing into the parked truck tractor.

Both drivers were transported to surrounding hospitals to be treated for injuries sustained, but DPS says the injuries were were non-life threatening.

Officials say a fuel leak caused a portion of the highway to be shutdown, while HAZMAT cleared the area.

A citation was issued as a result of the crash.
