The Texas Department of Public Safety will revisit a part of U.S. Highway 84 Monday, east of Slaton, to investigate a multi-vehicle pile-up caused by heavy fog.

That crash happened Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash one mile east of Slaton.

The pileup blocked westbound lanes of 84 and caused an 18-wheeler to jackknife and come to rest in the median where several other vehicles collided with it.

As DPS troopers and other emergency officials investigated, a third semi crashed and rolled onto the side of the road, injuring one person and a DPS trooper.

The trooper has since been released from the hospital, suffering a sprained ankle and some bruising.

The other person, who has not been identified, was kept in the hospital for monitoring.

The only citation issued so far has been to the driver of the first jackknifed semi-truck for unsafe speed.

When the DPS goes out again investigators will look into the other crashes and break down contributing factors.

It is possible more citations could be issued after that.
