The crew of a Chinook helicopter made an emergency landing late Tuesday morning in a rural field in Mills County after the aircraft developed a mechanical problem.
Mills County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Green said the helicopter landed just after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on the property north of Highway 84.
The sheriff’s office responded to the property after Fort Hood briefly lost contact with the helicopter’s crew and asked for a deputy to check on the soldiers.
The helicopter touched down without incident and everyone aboard was OK, Green said.
The twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift Chinook is a military workhorse, used to transport troops and cargo.
