A Crime Stoppers tip led to an arrest Wednesday in the hit-and-run death of a Waco man who was struck by a pickup while riding his motorized bicycle.
Jason Lamar Davis, 26, of Moody was in the McLennan County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
He was arrested earlier in the day on warrant charging failure to stop and render aid (death), police said.
Ricky Wilkerson of Waco died at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center after he was struck at around 5:30 p.m. Friday while riding his bicycle at North 15th Street and West Waco Drive.
Witnesses told officers an eastbound 2007 to 2014 GMC Silverado truck struck Wilkerson.
The driver didn’t stop, and was last seen headed east on Waco Drive.
“Because of this Crime Stoppers tip, Waco Police Department detectives were able to thoroughly investigate and make the arrest of a suspect in this deadly criminal incident,” police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
“This arrest shows how important the relationship between the police department and its citizens truly is.”
