NEW YORK (AP) Winner and still champion. Once again,
Cyber Monday has held on to its title of being the biggest online shopping day of the year.
Adobe Analytics says when all the receipts are totaled up, a record $9.4 billion worth of purchases will have been made on smartphones, tablets and computers.
That’s a 19% increase over last year’s Cyber Monday.
As night rolled into Tuesday morning, many transactions were still being made with shoppers rushing to take advantage of last-minute discounts.
Cyber Monday was created in 2005 by retailers to lure people to shop online when they returned to work the Monday after Thanksgiving, since few homes back then had high-speed internet service.
