Czech Republic ambassador coming to Central Texas

WEST, Texas (KWTX) The new Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States of America Hynek Kmoníček and his wife are coming to Central Texas this weekend.

The visit is a part of their three day tour of the Lone Star state which starts Thursday in Dallas.

Kmoníček will be in West on Friday at the Sokol Gymnasium.

He follows that stop with a trip to the Czech Heritage Museum in Temple before heading to Austin for meetings with military and UT Austin officials.

On Saturday the ambassador will stop in La Grange and finish his trip at the grand opening of the Czech Consulate in Houston.

The Consulate will be located within the confines of the Czech Center Museum.

This is the ambassador’s first trip to Texas since taking office in April.

His career has spanned more than two decades with his most recent position as Director of the Foreign Affairs Department in the Office of the President of the Czech Republic.
