LACY LAKEVIEW, Texas (KWTX) DNA testing has identified a man whose skull children found in January 2018 in a large, remote field in Lacy Lakeview and a second search of the field off Avenue H near Craven and Crest drives using cadaver dogs has turned up additional remains.

Billy Wayne McDaniel, 62, of Navarro County “had a history of mental issues, and of disappearing from time to time,” Lacy Lakeview police Chief John Trueitt said Friday.

On Thursday, police returned to the field with cadaver dogs and discovered skeletal remains that they believe are McDaniel’s.

The remains were sent to a medical examiner’s office for identification, he said.

“It's an unattended death, there's no indication of foul play," Trueitt said.

The remote area where the discovery was made was close to Avenue H, near Craven and Crest Drives.
