A man and a woman were in federal custody Friday after deputies raided a home in rural Bell County and seized crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $75,000.

Thomas Joseph Dowling III, 40 and Monika Heidi Brackett, 33, both of Belton, are facing federal drug charges, Assistant Chief Deputy T.J. Cruz said in a press release Friday.

They were arrested after the Bell County Organized Crime Unit and the Bell County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Unit executed a search warrant Thursday in the 6000 block of Tallow Drive and seized about 1,500 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with “a large amount of U.S. currency” and several firearms, Cruz said.

The warrant stemmed from an investigation into the distribution of large quantities of crystal methamphetamine in the county, he said.
