A debate was held Wednesday night for 10 of the 11 Republican candidates running for Bill Flores' Congressional District 17th seat at Midway high school.

The 10 Republican candidates who committed to participate include former Dallas area Congressman Pete Sessions, a Waco native; Waco homebuilder Scott Bland; Ahmad Adnan, an Austin financial advisor; Todd Kent of Bryan, who works in higher education; Marine Corps veteran Trent Sutton; Waco real estate agent Kristen Alamo Rowin; Robinson real estate agent Laurie Godfrey McReynolds; civic activist David Saucedo of Waco; College Station businesswoman and former City Councilmember Elianor Vessali and Brazos Eye Surgery co-owner Renee Swann of Waco.

George W. Hindman of Round Rock, was unable to attend.

During the debate each candidate was able to pick out two other candidates to ask a specific question.

That candidate was then given a minute to respond and then the one who originally asked the question was given 30 seconds to reply back.

"There are some distinctions for the voter to pick out what they like and what they don't like with each candidate," says McLennan County Republican Pary Chair Jon Ker.

Ker encourages everyone to get out and vote and that they should, "Vote for what is in the best interest of the country from their point of view."

The Democratic party also has 3 other candidates running for the 17th district seat, KWTX is working to get a similar debate together for those candidates.
