Police late Wednesday afternoon identified a man who died in an early morning crash in Belton as Jeremy Puryear, 41, of Killeen.

Puryear died after his Ford Mustang left the roadway at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of East 6th Avenue just west of the Temple-Belton Wastewater Treatment Plant and crashed into the fence of a temporary construction storage area, Belton spokesman Paul Romer said in an update.

Police initially said the victim was 30, but corrected the age after identification was confirmed.
