Killeen firefighters responded to the fire just before 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of Becker.
By the time the first crew arrived, the flames engulfed the front portion of the home near a fireplace, which is where investigators believe the fire broke out.
There was smoke damage inside the home, and fire damage to the attic and front part exterior portion of the home.
Because of the size of the fire and high winds some nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
It took fire crews about 20 minutes to knock down the fire.
A man who lived at the home was displaces, as where two women who frequent the home.
The Red Cross was called in to help the residents.
