Duplex fire leaves two families homeless

CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) Local fire crews were on the scene of a duplex fire early Friday morning off of Spring Berry lane in China Spring.

The fire was called into dispatch around 2:40 a.m. and crews from China Spring, Speegleville Forrest service, Waco fire, and McLennan County Sheriff's office were quickly on the scene.

One unit was engulfed when they arrived. A car parked next to the duplex was also destroyed.

Neighbors tell News 10 three people lived in one of the duplex units and they all made it out safely. The family that lives in the other unit was not home at the time.

The fire was moving quickly towards the attic, the damage to the second unit was not immediately known.

The red cross was called to the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
