NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) Emergency crews responded Saturday night to a fatal auto-pedestrian accident at Farm-to-Market 439 and Quarry Road just outside of Nolanville.

According to authorities, the call came in at 6:50 p.m.

Troopers say a 2016 Dodge passenger car was eastbound when the victim, Marty Hutton, 32 of Shamrock, walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The impact of the crash sent the Dodge car into the ditch, but the 43-year-old Nolanville man who was driving the vehicle and his teenage passenger escaped injury.

The windshield and front bumper of the car were severely damaged.

A KWTX reporter spotted about a dozen emergency vehicles including DPS troopers.

In a press release, Texas Highway Patrol issued a reminder to the dangers for pedestrians on or around a highway.

"Avoid walking near any roadway if possible. If it is necessary, wear light colored clothing and walk against the traffic as far from the traffic lanes as possible," part of the release stated.

Officials say the road was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.
