A family was able to get out of their home safely after being awakened by smoke detectors early Friday morning.

The fire broke out at around 1:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Forest Creek Lane in Bruceville-Eddy.

Smoke alarms woke the family of three, who then grabbed their pet rabbit and escaped the burning home out the back door.

When crews arrived the front porch was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was out within 15 minutes, but some heavy damage was left behind.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

No one was hurt.
