Early-morning Central Texas fire displaces 7, kills dog
Authorities are looking for the cause of an early-morning fire Friday that displaced seven members of a Killeen family and killed their dog.
The two adults and five children in the home escaped safely after the fire broke out at around 2:30 a.m. Friday, but the dog, which was in a crate, could not.
The front of the house was engulfed in flames when the first crews arrived.
Officials said the home is a total loss.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
Parts of Rancier Street and Cloud Street were closed to traffic while firefighters battled the flames.
