"Beyond the funeral service, we would like to help them regroup and move forward with other financial burdens they may encounter from their loss."
Ronnie Crim, 62, his wife Elizabeth, 44, and the seventh grader who was visiting their home, were stabbed to death early Friday by a man who forced his way into their home.
An 18-year-old woman, identified by her sister as Daniela Valencia, survived the attack, but was seriously injured.
Anthony Wayne Pierce, 22, Ronnie Crim’s nephew was arrested and jailed in neighboring Mills County following a chase Friday morning.
"When I found out who it was, I just lost it," friend Kevin Rhodes said Monday.
Rhodes says he was close to all three of the victims killed, especially the 13-year-old girl who he used to teach karate.
"She was such a tough competitor," he said.
"One of the boys actually got a nosebleed from her. She felt so bad and the little girl had a heart of gold."
Rhodes says residents are stepping up to help the victims’ families.
"There's just a multitude of good people with good hearts and we take care of our own."
Daniela Valencia, the sole survivor of the attack, escaped to call 911 and was flown to Hendrick Health System in Abilene for surgery.
Family members say she was stabbed in the abdomen and suffered damage to her liver.
"We were sad, but we were very happy that she was alive," she said.
"We were upset over the whole situation."
"The more I talk to her, the sadder she sounds because I think it's finally sinking in that they're gone," Acuna said.
An emergency fundraiser was started to help aid the Valencia family in medical and counseling costs.
