BARTLETT, Texas (KWTX) A Central Texas man died early Thursday in a head-on crash with an 18-wheeler on State Highway 95 in Bell County.

The Department of Public Safety identified the victim Thursday afternoon as David Jones, 33, of Bartlett.

Jones was driving south at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday on Highway 95 north of Bartlett when his Ford passenger car drifted into the northbound lane.

The driver of the northbound Cub Cadet 18-wheeler swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the car, DPS Sgt. Ryan Howard said, and the car crashed into the rig as Jones attempted to pull back into the southbound lane.

Jones died at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler and a passenger, whose names were not released, were taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Howard said.

Their injuries aren’t life threatening, he said.

The crash is under investigation.
