Fire alarm forces evacuation at Dallas Love Field
A fire alarm forced travelers to evacuate from Dallas Love Field Airport early Friday morning.
The alarm sounded at around 4:30 a.m.
Officials at Dallas Love Field say an air-conditioning unit overheated early Friday, generating smoke that triggered the alarm.
Passengers had to leave the terminal while crews checked to make sure there wasn't a fire.
The scene was cleared after 45 minutes and the airport resumed normal operations, but travelers were advised to allow for delays of at least 90 minutes while Transportation Security Administration officers re-screened those re-entering the airport.
Most flights were not delayed, but some passengers struggled to reach their gates in time because of the security backup.
