Firefighters rescue residents from burning apartment

Firefighters had to rescue four people from windows at the Carmel Apartments Wednesday morning during a fire.

The fire started at 2:30 a.m. in a first floor apartment in the 3600 block of West Waco Drive.

The flames crept up the wall, damaging the apartment above and the roof according to Chris Pecheck, Waco Fire Battalion Chief.

Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Six people were displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting those families.
