Firefighters battle restaurant fire
Temple firefighters made quick work of a fire at a Church's Chicken restaurant Friday night.
Fire crews responded to the restaurant at 1710 S. 31st Street at around 9:45 p.m.
A restaurant employee tried to put the blaze out with a fire extinguisher before crews arrived, but was unsuccessful
An investigation determined the fire started in the fryer area.
The inside of the restaurant received heat and smoke damage.
The total damage cost is estimated to be more than $40,000.
One person had to be treated on scene by first responders, but refused to be transported to the hospital.
