A Dallas PR firm working with former Baylor football star Shawn Oakman says Oakman is working with a renowned trainer and is closing in on possibilities with NFL teams.

Black Diamond Public Relations firm in Dallas said in a press release that Oakman will be working with a trainer in Houston, before “upcoming NFL showings” with the Texans, Cardinals, Bengals and Titans.

Contacted by phone, Oakman told KWTX that nothing was in writing, but he was ready to work as hard as he could and declined to comment any further.

Black Diamond’s release says the comeback attempt will include working with trainer Derron Griffin in Houston.

Griffin’s clients include 2019 first round NFL draft pick Ed Oliver out of the University of Houston.

Major draft experts and publications like Sports Illustrated predicted Oakman would be a first round selection, before an arrest over three years ago.

Oakman was accused of raping a classmate in April 2016, but maintained the sex was consensual and earlier this year jurors apparently agreed.

The jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a not guilty verdict on Feb.28.
