MEXIA, Texas (KWTX) First responders scrambled Wednesday morning after receiving a report of a possible plane crash near the Mexia Airport.

“Responders swarmed the area and began searching,” the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post, but the report of the crash turned out to be a false alarm.

“It was discovered later that an emergency transponder switch had accidentally been turned on in an airplane that was undergoing maintenance at the airport,” the sheriff’s office said.

“We are thankful no crash occurred and no one was injured.”
